Combined with a serum made from dry, non-greasy oils, such as Vitamin C Healthy Glow Serum, it promotes regeneration without weighing down the skin. For dry, tired, sensitive skin or skin exposed to the winter cold, you can opt for the Cica-Cold Cream by Cottan. This cold cream combines the soothing benefits of a repairing cica cream with intense nourishing and protective action, ideal for a true nighttime rejuvenation treatment.

NB: Historically, beautiful Parisian women used "evanescent creams" during the day, while "cold creams" were reserved for nighttime use, a distinction that we wanted to recreate for you in all its authenticity.

Evanescent creams, also called snow creams or vanishing creams, belong to a family of care products that almost disappeared from the market for almost a century, with the advent of petrochemical formulations in the cosmetic industry.

These creams differ from modern moisturizing formulas in two major aspects:

Texture and sensory appeal:

Evanescent creams offer a unique experience. Their rich and creamy texture transforms, upon application, into a light and airy foam which suddenly disappears as it penetrates the skin. This sensory metamorphosis — soft, fresh and non-greasy at the same time — earned them their name. Their naturally white and slightly pearly appearance reinforces this feeling of purity and lightness.

Formulation and performance:

Unlike so-called “cold creams”, built around a blend of fatty substances, evanescent creams are based on a radically different formulation principle, because their formula is based on a water-based emulsion, hence the name “water-based” which is sometimes found in cosmetic literature. Their strong moisturizing power comes from this structure, dry oils, and a high glycerin content, which form a moist microfilm on the surface of the skin, retaining water, while preserving the sensation of a dry and supple touch. This non-greasy emollient system provides long-lasting hydration, particularly beneficial for sensitive, thin or dry skin. Corneometric studies have confirmed the effectiveness of these formulas, illustrating the relevance and modernity of this ancient know-how.

Our Evansecent Face Cream is completely recommended for mature (50 years old) and combination skin. Its light “fading” texture intensely hydrates and nourishes while leaving a soft, matte finish, without a greasy film, making it a great option if your T-zone easily gets shiny throughout the day. Its formula is a water-based emulsion, enriched with glycerin and so-called “dry” oils, which are released upon application according to the skin’s needs: the cream literally melts like snow under the fingers, hence its nickname “snow cream”.

To help more specifically regulate sebum in the T zone, we advise you to combine:

• The Micellar Vinegar de Beauté, to be used in the morning and/or evening after cleansing, on a cotton pad, delicately insisting on the forehead, nose and chin. Its formula based on apple vinegar and fruit acids purifies the skin, refines the texture, helps to eliminate excess sebum and to gradually rebalance the T zone, while respecting sensitive skin.
• The Evanescent Face Cream, then apply to the entire face: a normal amount on the cheeks and neck, and a little less on the T zone, massaging well until the cream disappears completely. Its non-greasy protective microfilm maintains hydration and leaves a silky, matte finish, which limits shine throughout the day.

If your makeup is strong, we also offer you a natural solution for purifying makeup removal with our Cleansing Powder-Foam, made from rice powder and peony root. It gently cleanses and removes makeup while helping to eliminate impurities and excess sebum, without damaging the skin.

This routine will allow you to cleanse, purify and balance your skin, while providing it with the hydration it needs, without the oily effect that can accentuate the shine of the T zone.

These are oil-in-water emulsions, with predominant water phase, combined with light emollients and glycerin or moisturizing sugars, which increase the water content of the stratum corneum over a very long period of time, by strengthening the lipid barrier in a consistent and continuous manner and improve skin suppleness.

Our corneometric tests on comparable moisturizing emulsions show immediate hydration boost that lasts for several hours, or even up to 24 hours (unlike, for example, aqueous gels, which evaporate very quickly).

With its fine texture, unlike thicker moisturizers, which are often highly occlusive, you avoid the greasy effect that overloads combination skin, clogs pores, and can accentuate shine in the T-zone.

Finally, among the "snow creams," Cottan's Evanescent Cream stands out for its Slightly acidic pH (close to that of the skin), which limits irritation and disruption of the hydrolipidic film, whereas snow creams from other brands are often alkaline.
